hi, I'm Kayla

What began as Kayla Beard Photo nearly fifteen years ago has grown and changed alongside me. I’ve photographed brand-new babies becoming messy children, wedding days becoming family history, and grandparents surrounded by the generations that grew from them.

At some point, this work became bigger than me.

June, to me, feels like childhood. Long days that somehow move slowly. Warm light, bare feet, sun-faded colors, grainy photographs, and running around until dark. It holds the kind of memories I’m always trying to preserve, the ordinary moments that rarely announce themselves as important until years later.

Dear June is a letter to everything we love while we are living it and everything we will someday wish we could return to.

More than five years ago, I began teaching and mentoring photographers from around the world. That eventually grew into a small team of exceptionally talented women whom I mentor closely and am genuinely proud to work alongside. Each brings her own instincts and creativity to the same thoughtful process and storytelling foundation that has shaped Dear June from the beginning.

A PLACE FOR

every story

Wedding days. Growing families. Grandparents gathered with grandchildren. Seniors standing at the edge of what’s next. Brands with something real to say.

Whatever brought you here, there is a place for it.

          Dear June,

Warm and loud and full. Sometimes messy. Sometimes hard. Always, always loved. Gone too fast.

The golden days and the ones that tested us. The moments we soaked in and the ones that slipped by unnoticed.

The laughter, the chaos, the quiet in between.

All of it. Every bit of it. Ours.

Documentary x Editorial

Creative work that lives in the middle.

We approach each session from a documentary perspective, allowing moments to unfold naturally, while guiding light, composition, and pacing with an editorial eye. It’s a balance we’re deeply intentional about, and one we train our creative team in, so every experience feels natural, thoughtful, and consistent.
